One of the biggest ways you can help an organization like ours is to volunteer your home to foster those rescues that are ready to leave the sanctuary and transition to a forever home. Fostering can be a very rewarding experience and allows you to participate in the final stages of “rescuing”. Additionally, inviting one of our rehabilitated dogs to stay with you and your family frees up space within our sanctuary for another dog to be rescued. It is a win/win!
We will handle all the transport involved within the Puerto Vallarta area as well as locations within Canada and the United States. Transportation out of the country is coordinated with a number of volunteers who are responsible for physically getting the animals from point A to point B and we take care of all expenses and necessary paperwork. In the case of transports outside of Mexico, the majority of our foster families pick up their foster at the arrivals area of the airport.
Any dog that leaves the sanctuary will be fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered and healthy. There may be occasion when an animal is healthy enough to leave the sanctuary but requires continued medication. Or, there may be those instances when additional or follow up veterinary care is required. Again, any such expenses incurred will be paid for by the SPCA.
The SPCA de Puerto Vallarta is proud to work with both Petfinder (www.petfinder.com) and Adopt-a-Pet (www.adoptapet.com) which provide a vehicle to advertise our dogs available for adoption in a targeted area. So, once you have taken a dog into your home, rest assured we will promote him/her through multiple social media sites to facilitate their finding fur-ever homes. You will find our organization listed as “PVCA Animal Rescue” for both the above websites.

Based on our experience, it is rare that a dog is not adopted within a few weeks. We do ask, however, that you agree to keep the dog until a home is found. We also ask that you allow a potential candidate access to the dog available for adoption.
If you decide fostering is something you would enjoy, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We request that you complete an application form for our review. If you desire, we can provide you with contact information for one or two of our foster families who would be able to provide you with more specifics regarding their experience at fostering.
We hope to hear from you.
